Aquatic Facilities
Failure to properly maintain aquatic facilities can lead to injuries or the spread of waterborne diseases, therefore swimming pool and spa operators must comply with all pertinent CA Health and Safety and Building Codes.
EHS conducts periodic inspections of SDSU’s recreational aquatic facilities to assure they are in compliance with all safety regulations. EHS follows the Model Aquatic Health Code guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additional information on how to maintain safe and healthy recreational swimming facilities can be found on the CDC’s Healthy Swimming website.
Construction of new swimming pools or spas, or any operational or construction modifications all require formal plan review and approval. All plans should follow the San Diego County Public Pool Plan Review and Instruction Guide. Contact EHS for information at [email protected].
