Potable Water

EHS oversees disinfection of newly installed or repaired drinking water mains, distribution systems, or lines to ensure harmful bacteria are not introduced into the water systems. The SDSU Water Main and Building Water Disinfection and Testing Procedures outlines the American Water Works Association Standard for Disinfecting Water Mains (ANSI/AWAA C651a-19 Standard) and California Plumbing Code requirements.

If you are installing or repairing a water main, please complete the following steps:

  1. Submit Chlorination Notification Form at least one week prior to the start of the chlorination process.
  2. Submit the Chlorination & Biological Sampling Test Results Form immediately following the final flush.
  3. Email a copy of your biological testing analysis report to Anh Tran at [email protected].

If you have any questions, please contact Anh Tran ([email protected]) or call 619-594-1858.
