
Presidential Speechwriter / Presidential Communications Director
The Presidential Speechwriter/Presidential Communications Director reports to and supports a highly visible and strongly engaged President, fulfilling a key role in ensuring the intentional and effective communication of President’s vision, priorities, interests, perspective, and style. They are attuned to the University’s context and those of the various communities that the University serves and engages. They work closely with University leaders to remain apprised of the University’s issues and positions and to collaborate and coordinate on Presidential communications. Using superior writing and communication skills, the Presidential Speechwriter/Presidential Communications Director prepares speeches, talking points, remarks, stories, articles, news releases, op-ed pieces, reports, executive correspondence, and social media communications for the President. The Presidential Speechwriter/Presidential Communications Director serves as the chief communications counsel to the President. They find and tell compelling stories and know the perfect words for the right moment. They are professionally proficient in both English and Spanish, experienced in sophisticated writing and editing in both languages, and know how to engage varied audiences.
