Parking for Special Events

There are many events that occur throughout campus on a daily basis. Parking & Transportation Services will assist in making your event successful. We understand the importance of building on excellence on all levels. If you are planning an event, we can provide parking information, reserve parking spaces, remove bollards and assist with staffing when necessary.

Departments can complete and submit the online Special Event Staffing Request Form to our special events team.

For Viejas Arena and Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre events, we collect a minimum of $25 per car at designated parking locations. We are using a cashless, contactless payment system. Please arrive with any major credit card, ApplePay or GooglePay as a payment option.

Parking at Calpulli Center or P8 will require a permit purchase through PayByPhone, using access code 28508.

If a parking attendant is not present at event locations, a pay station or PayByPhone permit is required for the time you are parked.

Parking in areas not designated for special events will result in a $70 citation.

For Men's Basketball, parking is $25 per car. If a parking attendant is not present at event locations, a pay station or PayByPhone permit is required for the time you are parked.

Patrons attending all other athletic events are required to buy a permit from the pay station or through PayByPhone.

There will be overflow parking for Snapdragon Stadium on the SDSU campus in structure P3. Permits are available at the pay station or through PayByPhone. If parking at SDSU main campus, you will need to take the trolley to the stadium at your own cost.

For information regarding parking at Snapdragon, visit the Snapdragon website. Should you have questions, please contact Snapdragon directly.

As a part of a student referendum, SDSU parking structures P7 & P12 were built primarily to service events held at Viejas Arena. As a result, SDSU Parking & Transportation Services is required to ensure these parking structures can accomodate guests parking for special events. To ensure these accommodations are possible, SDSU Parking & Transportation Services may be required to close down P7 and/or P12 from student traffic on event days, allowing more room for event guests. Any students who are already parked in the parking structures prior to closure will not be required to move after the garage has been closed. Notices for upcoming closures will be placed on signage at the entries of each garage at a minimum of 3 days in advance of the event, and will also be displayed on our website.
