Special Events
There are many events that occur throughout campus on a daily basis. Parking & Transportation
Services provides services to help assist in making your event successful. We understand
the importance of building on excellence on all levels. If you are planning an event,
we can give you parking information, reserved parking spaces, bollard removal and
assist with staffing when necessary. Contact our Special Event Coordinator for more information.

Special Event Rules & Regulations
When attending an event at SDSU main campus it is unlawful for the following per Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, Sections 42350-42356:
- Tailgaiting/Comsumption of Alcohol
- Barbeques
- Smoking
- RV Parking
- Camping
- Scalping Tickets
- Selling of Merchandise

Parking for Campus Events
Permits or payment for parking are required at all times for events on campus. The only exclusions are Move-In Day, Convocation, Explore SDSU and Commencement.
All patrons are required to buy a permit from our pay stations or through PayByPhone. The amount is $3 per hour. The pay stations and PayByPhone allows you to extend your time should the need arise.
Parking for Arena & OAT Events
For Viejas Arena and Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre events, we collect a minimum of $25 per car at designated parking locations. SDSU Parking and Transportation Services will no longer be accepting cash for special event parking and will only be accepting contactless payment. Please arrive with any major credit card, ApplePay, or GooglePay as a payment option. Please note; at Calpulli Center and P8, patrons will be required to use the cashless system PayByPhone with access code 28508.
If there are no money collectors present at these event locations then a pay station or PayByPhone permit is required for the time you are parked.
Parking in areas not designated for special events will result in a $70 citation. SDSU enforces parking permits and areas digitally.
Parking for Athletic Events
For Men’s Basketball, we collect $25. If there are no money collectors present when you arrive at these event locations then a pay station or PayByPhone permit is required for the time you are parked.
Patrons attending all other athletic events are required to buy a permit from our pay stations or through PayByPhone. The amount is $3. The pay station and PayByPhone allows you to extend your time should the need arise. There are 2 machines located in Parking 7.
Parking for Snapdragon Events
There will be overflow parking for Snapdragon Stadium on the SDSU campus in structures P3 & P4. Parking will be $20 for Aztec Football games and $25 for all other events. If parking at SDSU main campus, you will need to take the trolley to the stadium at your own cost. (Exception: if you are attending a SDSU football game up to four people per vehicle parked may take the trolley for free). Visit the Snapdragon website for parking information at the stadium.
