Q1: What is Fee Waiver?

A: The Employee Fee Waiver Program is one of the benefits offered to eligible employees of the CSU system. It allows employees to participate in CSU general-fund courses at reduced rates. See Fee Waiver for more information.

Q2: What is Work Related vs. Career Development, Fee Waiver?

A: Work Related requires that courses be taken for the purpose of improving the level of skill needed to perform existing duties and responsibilities, or acquiring additional skills needed to perform newly assigned duties and responsibilities. Whereas, Career Development requires that courses be taken for the purpose of enhancing the employee’s career in the CSU system, or advancing their academic degree. Q3: How do I Submit an Employee Fee Waiver Application?

A: Complete and sign the Employee Fee Waiver Application and obtain MPP Administrator’s signature for any Work Related courses or if release time is required during work hours. Then, FAX or send the Employee Fee Waiver Application form to the Training & Professional Development Office. See Fee Waiver for more information.

Q5: What is New Employee Orientation?

A: A half-day, orientation presented by the Office of Training & Professional Development, to help staff become familiar with the history of San Diego State University. Topics include the University’s organizational structure, and services that are offered to both employees and students. Q6: What is the President’s Management Development Program?

A: A training program offered by the Center for Human Resources designed to improve the consistency and quality of management skills in a constantly changing environment. See President’s Management Development Program for details.

Q7: Who may attend the President’s Management Development Program?

A: Staff who hold an MPP, SSP, Department Chair position or one in a similar level classification with managerial duties are eligible to attend (supervising student assistants does not qualify). Submit the registration form, with supervisor’s signature to the Training & Professional Development Manager. See President’s Management Development Program for details.
