Instructional Student Assistant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants perform teaching, grading or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Abilities: Incumbents must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; and accept responsibility. Completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course. Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student. On-Campus Work-Study Instructional Student Assistants must meet the eligibility requirements of theFederal Work-Study Program, as determined by the campus' financial aid office.

EXCEPTIONS: Exceptions to minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole descretion of the hiring department/authority.

HIRING CRITERIA: The Liberal Studies Program needs one or two readers for the capstone project seniors complete in LIB S 498.  Applicants must be in a masters program, preferably in English, Linguistics, or Rhetoric and Writing Studies. Experience dealing with composition issues, including grammar and punctuation is expected. Previous satisfactory performance will be one of the hiring criteria.

PERCENTAGE OR HOURS OF APPOINTMENT: Six to eight hours per week for a total of approximately 30-40 hours between Oct. 8 and Nov. 24.
