Fee Waiver & Reduction Program

The Employee Fee Waiver Program is a benefit for Eligible Employees of the CSU system. It allows employees to participate in CSU general-fund courses at reduced rates. Eligible faculty or staff members may transfer their fee waiver benefit to a qualified dependent.

Fees are waived for a maximum of two courses or 6 units per term, for any of the CSU campuses. Additional fees that are reduced or waived are dependent upon the employee’s bargaining unit and can be found on the CSU's Web site.

At San Diego State University, the Employee Fee Waiver Program is administered by the Benefits Office in the Center for Human Resources. If you have questions regarding the program call 619-594-1144.

The following are the submission dates for SDSU’s Fee Waiver Forms. These deadlines are separate from University Admission deadlines. It is also the employee’s or their dependent’s responsibility to meet registration and payment deadlines of the campus of enrollment, which may differ from SDSU’s deadline requirements.

Term Submission Date
Fall Semester July 1 — August 15
Spring Semester December 1 — January 15
Summer Semester April 1 — May 15

Please note: although fee waivers are approved in advance, you must be a current employee at the start of the semester in order for the fee waiver to be valid. Employees who become ineligible, or their dependents, who continue their enrollment will be responsible for covering the cost of related university fees.
