Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential counseling and referral service designed to help employees and members of their household resolve personal and workplace challenges. Employees are eligible for these services for up to eight sessions per issue, per year.

EAP services are provided by Horizon Health. You may access the EAP program anytime by calling 800-342-8111 or see Horizon Health (Log-in: SDSU, Password: EAP).

Counseling Services

EAP counseling services are provided in a counselor’s private office or telephonically, depending upon your preference. Some areas that EAP can help you with include:

  • Emotional wellness
  • Marital/relationship issues
  • Family issues
  • Communication skills
  • Stress management
  • Alcohol and drug issues
  • Work-related issues
  • Grief issues


WorkLife Services

Horizon’s WorkLife programs provide you with convenient on-line resources and confidential access to qualified specialists who can help address a variety of work-life issues such as:

  • Child Care
  • Elder Care
  • Pet Care
  • Adoption
  • Education
  • Legal & Financial Consultation Services

Through the legal / financial component of Horizon’s EAP services, you and members of your family have access to qualified legal and financial professionals who can help resolve issues, including but not limited to:

  • Separation and divorce
  • Child support payment
  • General tax or investment questions
  • Collection agencies
  • Dealing with retirement fund rollovers or transfers
  • Automobile accidents
  • Serious traffic violations
  • Elderly parent care (especially those who live in other states)
  • Will preparation (free online)
  • Defective merchandise (e.g., a new automobile)


Webinars

Employees may participate in real time webinars or view archived sessions at any time. Examples of topics include: Caring for the Caregiver‚ Healthy Boundaries in Online Relationships‚ and Effective Communication with Your Teenager.
