Arlene Gibbs joined San Diego State University in December, 2007, as the Director of the Center for Human Resources. She has over 20 years of Human Resources experience of which 17 years has been in the public sector with California special districts and municipal government. Arlene’s varied background includes working in both small and large agencies in all aspects of Human Resources and Labor Relations and encompasses the start-up of a new special district as well as significant downsizing efforts during difficult budget times. Arlene has a Bachelor of Science from California State University Long Beach and a Masters in Public Administration from California State University Northridge. She is certified by the Society for Human Resources as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and by the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA) as a Human Resource Certified Professional (HR-CP). Arlene is married and has a 25-year-old daughter who is a graduate of SDSU working as a designer and living in Los Angeles.
