Oracle Applications Upgrade & JInitiator Update
Please Note: Oracle Applications requires installation of Sun's Java Runtime Environment version 1.6.0_11 or higher. To install the Sun Java JRE, you’ll need administrator rights. If you do not have administrator rights, or if you’re not sure whether you have administrator rights, contact your desktop support. Before beginning the Java JRE installation, please ensure that the appropriate user and browser permission settings are in place:
- Software should be installed on the desktop using local administrator rights
- Recommended desktop setting (for Win 2000 and Win XP), according to the instructions outlined in the document, “Recommended Desktop Settings” for Windows
or for Mac.

Hardware Requirements
Oracle performance is sensitive to CPU speed. Users should follow guidelines for recommended desktop requirements as published by the Minimum Workstation Standards at SDSU.
