Procedures for Getting Account-access Approval

To access Oracle Applications / MarkView Imaging / Oracle PeopleSoft, your department manager must provide written approval (their signature) authorizing your access to confidential information stored in these databases. To request access, download and print the forms:

Complete and sign both documents, and forward to the LEAP Help Desk at mail code 7712, or FAX to ext. 4-6969. For assistance, call the BIS Help desk at ext. 4-0899.

This is the Certified list of browsers for the upcoming Oracle Applications Release 12, which the University will implement - dates to be published very shortly.

Procedures for Getting an Account and Temporary Password

for Oracle Apps / MarkView Imaging / Oracle PeopleSoft

A LEAP Help Desk consultant will process your account access request as soon as we receive the signed forms. At that time, a consultant will contact you and provide your account and password information. They will also provide instructions for optimizing your web browser and how to get started using the applications.

LEAP Help Desk consultants are available Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at ext. 4-0899. We are located in the Administration Building, third floor, in room AD-331. Accounts can be distributed in-person, at a self-service training sessions, or at the Human Resources front counter, located in ESC-406, ext. 4-0469. Office hours are Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Account names are created from your Red ID number, appearing on the SDSUcard. If you don’t have an SDSUcard, see How to Get an SDSUcard. If you have questions about the Oracle / PeopleSoft HCM Application, visit the HCM 8.9 Implementation Project web site or contact the BIS Help Desk at ext. 4-0899.

 

Procedures for Creating Passwords

The first time you log into the system, you will be prompted to change your password. When creating passwords, keep in mind that it must meet certain complexity-criteria, as outlined below:

  1. Minimum length of eight characters
  2. Case-sensitive
  3. One special character (non-numeric and non-alphabetic)
  4. Expires in 60 days (You’ll be prompted to enter a new password at that time.)
  5. Cannot be re-used, or re-cycled
  6. Accounts are locked-out after five invalid logon attempts

Procedures for Optimizing your Web Browser

For users running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, Internet Explorer must be configured to run the Oracle Apps, MarkView Imaging, and Oracle / PeopleSoft Apps software. Download and print the document, “Optimizing Internet Explorer.” Active link to a Portable Document Format file with a .pdf filename extension created using an Adobe Acrobat product This step-by-step procedure guide will show you how to set the various internet properties, to optimize your browser to run the applications.

Meeting the Minimum Workstation Hardware Configuration

Additionally, please verify that your desktop hardware meets the recommended minimum hardware requirements, specified in the web document, Minimum Workstation Standards at SDSU. Business and Financial Affairs staff should contact the BIDS Help Desk, at ext. 4-0109 for assistance; or see the Desktop Service & Configuration web page. Non-Business Affairs staff should contact the consultant assigned to support uses in their College or Division.
