Project OverviewWhat is SDSU’s Project HCM? |
||
OverviewHCM stands for Oracle’s (PeopleSoft) Human Capital Management suite of software applications. San Diego State University is undertaking this software implementation in order to replace its existing processes for recruitment, employee and faculty management (the entire life cycle of an employee’s career at San Diego State University), position management, labor cost distribution, time keeping, and benefits using state of the art enterprise-level software developed by PeopleSoft (now Oracle), and further modified by the CSU Common Management Systems (CMS) team; the CSU modified version of the software is commonly known as “CMS Baseline.” San Diego State University has engaged the support of Oracle Corporation as our implementation partner in a major effort to implement and streamline our existing critical administrative processes through the integration of these new PeopleSoft applications in Recruitment, Benefits, Position Management, Workforce Development & Administration, Time & Labor, Absence Management, Labor Cost Distribution, and Employee Self Service modules.
Objectives
Benefits to SDSU
Oracle’s RoleWorking in partnership with SDSU personnel and, therefore by extension, with the Chancellor’s Office CMS staff, Oracle is providing this project with the software applications, tools, education, training, and consulting services necessary to partner in the implementation lifecycle and mentor SDSU personnel in maintaining and supporting the system and our users of the system once the implementation cycle is completed.
SDSU’s RoleSDSU’s role in the project is to work in partnership with the Oracle consultants to successfully learn and implement the various modules of the HCM suite and to gain the knowledge necessary to maintain and support these systems and our users. Teams devoted to specific functional processes (typically by module) will include knowledgeable end-users and subject matter experts from all campus areas. Training and reporting out of the system are big components to the successful delivery of any new system, and both are being addressed as part of the implementation requirements. This project is undertaken with full campus divisional support and participation of the functional areas that will use and maintain processes supported by these applications.
