What You Can Do To Help
- Buy recycled products.
- Print a copy of the SDSU Recycles! flyer
and post in your office/work area as a reminder to recycle.
- Continue filling the blue paper bins and beverage recycling containers around campus.
- Flatten corrugated cardboard boxes so custodians can dispose of them in the cardboard dumpsters. (A look in any campus dumpster reveals that cardboard boxes take up most of the space!)
- If your department needs more bins or has suggestions for collection sites, contact Steve Lincoln at ext. 4-7017 or <slincoln@mail.sdsu.edu>.
- Buy products made from recycled materials, and avoid products with excess packaging.
- Buy only what you need and use all you buy. Large quantities are only economical if you use all the material. The remainder often ends up as trash.
- Set up a collection box in your office for used batteries, toner cartridges and other hazardous/regulated waste. When it is full, call Environmental Health and Safety at ext. 4-6778 for disposal.
- Be creative in thinking of ways to reuse items to divert them from going to landfills.
- Remember the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!

Alvin Shoemaker of Environmental Health & Safety oversees loading of fluorescent light tubes and ballasts for recycling.
Remember: the success of SDSU’s recycling programs depends on your continued, active participation and support!
