Vacation Rates & Amounts
Vacation is accrued after a month of qualifying service (11 days for salaried employees and 160 hours for hourly employees). Eligible employees can accrue vacation at a rate based on state service‚ while others accrue at a flat rate. The following shows how vacation is earned within each of the bargaining units:

An employee’s time base (full-time‚ part-time) is also taken into consideration when calculating vacation accruals. Full-time employees earn the full accrual‚ while part-time employees earn a pro-rated accrual. Hourly employees earn a full accrual after working 160 hours.

Usage
Vacation Maximums
All employees eligible to earn vacation (represented and non-represented) may accumulate unused vacation hours‚ up to the maximum allowed as of December 31st. When computing the maximum allowable vacation limits‚ remember to include the December vacation accrual.

Under certain conditions‚ as specified in bargaining unit contracts‚ employees may be allowed to carry over more vacation hours than the maximums outlined above. These requests must be authorized by a supervisor and approved by the appropriate vice president.
