Classification
Foreign student employees are those who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents‚ but are eligible to work in the U.S. They can either be classified as Non-Resident Alien Student Assistants‚ or Instructional Student Assistants‚ depending on the nature of their work. Please see Classification & Pay Rates for more detailed information.
After signing in with Human Resources‚ foreign student employees are required to meet with their payroll technician for a tax appointment. At this time‚ the payroll technician will determine the employees’ tax residency status.
For this appointment‚ employees are asked to complete an information form (see‚ Foreign National Information Form)‚
which is provided by Human Resources after the sign-in process is complete. Employees must fully complete this form prior to their appointment. In addition‚ the following documents are requested:
