WOMEN AND CULTURES OF VIOLENCE
Tenure-track Position - Open Rank
VPAA# 2008/2009-43

The Department of Women's Studies at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track position, open rank.  We seek to strengthen our offerings in the following area:

Women and Cultures of Violence: Expertise in local and global conditions of gendered violence including domestic violence, militarization, sex trafficking, and migration. Familiarity with national and transnational theories and policies, as well as strategies for change.

A Ph.D. in Women's Studies or a related field with a concentration in women's or gender studies is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to teach courses relevant to violence in the home, war, migration, and sex trafficking to specifically bolster curriculum in this area.
  • Ability to develop curriculum to enhance internationalization and transnational feminism while serving concerns of gender, race, class and sexuality.
  • A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching of a very diverse student population.
  • A commitment to strengthen a successful graduate degree program.
  • A strong record of scholarly research appropriate to level of appointment.
  • Commitment to work collaboratively with colleagues and community and to developing transnational networks in this field of research.
