The Department of Finance in the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (http://www.sdsu.edu) is recruiting for a tenure-track position in finance (investments and related areas), although filling this position is contingent upon State funding. Qualified applicants will have a doctoral-level degree in finance or a related discipline completed by August 2010. Investments: Background in investments with a focus to teach basic and advanced investments courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, interest in teaching in the area of personal financial planning is highly desirable. Recruitment at Assistant or Associate Professor rank will be considered. Applicants at the Associate Professor rank should be able to demonstrate substantial research and teaching accomplishments. Qualified applicants must have the potential for a record of teaching excellence and quality scholarship. Quality scholarship as evidenced by a portfolio of research activities, including publications in appropriate high-ranking finance or related journals, is required. The College of Business Administration enrolls approximately 6,000 undergraduate business majors and over 800 graduate students pursuing both the MBA and Master of Science degrees. The Finance Department comprises 15 full-time tenure-track faculty members. At the undergraduate level the Department offers B.S. degrees in Finance, Financial Services, and Real Estate. At the graduate level, MBA and MS degrees are available with emphases in Finance, Financial and Tax Planning, and Real Estate. Several members of the Department faculty will attend the Financial Management Association meeting in Reno in October 2009 and wish to schedule meetings with interested candidates who will be attending the FMA Meeting. All interested candidates and others must forward a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and examples of teaching and research accomplishments as soon as possible. The starting date for the position will be August 2010; review of applications will begin in September ’09 and continue through January 31, 2010.
