|
The term sustainability has grown to encompass a variety of ideas. A basic definition is “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” (See EPA Sustainability Project) In other words, sustainable is being able to use a resource in a way that it is not depleted or permanently damaged. It is the ability to keep operating effectively without a negative impact.
