Emergencies



Natural Disasters

Any disaster or unusual occurrence that threatens life or property should be reported immediately to Public Safety (ext. 41991 or 911).

Elevator Emergencies

Elevator emergencies should be reported immediately to the Work Control Center (ext. 44754), or Public Safety (ext. 41991). Elevator occupants may call Public Safety via the emergency communication system inside the elevator. Occupants trapped inside elevators should not be left unattended. University personnel may only attempt access to elevator hoistways in the event of life threatening emergencies.

Facility Problems

Urgent facility problems should be directed to the Physical Plant Work Control Center (ext. 44754).

Hazardous Materials

  • Hazardous Materials — Chemical Spills, Radiation & Asbestos (see also SDSU Emergency Plan)
  • In the event of hazardous chemical or radioactive material spills, or any problems involving asbestos, immediately notify Environmental Health & Safety (ext. 46778). Departments wishing to dispose of chemicals should contact Environmental Health & Safety for current procedures.

Housing Problems

Emergencies that occur between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, should be reported to the Office of Housing Administration & Residential Education Office (ext. 46181). After hours on evenings and weekends, notify Public Safety (ext. 41991).
