Carpeting — Installation, Maintenance, Cleaning & Repair |
||
Specialized LocationsThe installation of carpeting is limited to specialized locations such as library, computer labs, conference rooms, office areas and facilities requiring special acoustical treatment. Carpet requests for other areas are considered on a case-by-case basis. Installation, Replacement & ApprovalAll installation and replacement of carpeting must be approved by Physical Plant. Only carpeting that meets state specifications will be approved for installation. New installations applied through Major Capital Outlay projects are developed by Facilities Planning & Management and will follow the same specialized location and state specification guidelines. Request ProcedureWhen requesting new carpeting or carpet replacement, submit a Service Request. Upon approval, Physical Plant will forward your request to Contract & Procurement Management to process Purchase Order & Installation Contract documents. After your new carpeting has been delivered and installed, Physical Plant will inspect the job, ensuring that the quality of workmanship and the materials used meet state guidelines. Carpet Replacement for Public AreasPeriodic carpet replacement for public areas is considered a maintenance expense and will occur when the carpet exceeds its life expectancy (contingent upon the fiscal year budget). Earlier replacement of carpeting shall be funded by the requesting department's supplies & services account. Maintenance & RepairThe maintenance and repair of existing carpet is the responsibility of each department. Physical Plant can provide minor repairs on a cost recovery basis. Departments are encouraged to save carpet remnants for future repairs if needed. Carpet CleaningPhysical Plant is responsible for cleaning all campus carpeting in accordance with current cleaning schedules.
