Imperial Valley Campus (IVC) Master PlanThe Imperial Valley Campus (IVC) Master Plan was developed by the SDSU office of Facilities Planning, Design & Construction in cooperation with IVC administration and regional agencies. It is based on the same parameters of enrollment management and site development as the main campus Master Plan. The Facilities Planning, Design & Construction office at the San Diego campus developed the Master Plan for the renovation and build-out of IVC. The plan advocated continuing California mission-style architecture. In 1990 a major capital construction project implemented this plan. The resulting campus consists of intimately scaled, functionally specific buildings situated around a large courtyard, featuring enhanced paving, landscaping, lighting and other unifying architectural elements. Gifts from the San Diego campus of a new bell tower for the heart of the campus, and the restoration of a vintage Work Projects Administration lantern for the entry portal provide collegiate ties between the two campuses. Continued enrollment growth signals the need for further campus development to expand the current capacity and enhance the curriculum.
