Where & How Can I Park

Permits are required at all times even including evenings, weekends and holidays.  There are different permits for different locations.  The symbols on all parking signs represent the permits that are valid in that area.

  • Students may only park in areas that have a "S" or "N" symbol.
  • Faculty/Staff may only park in areas that have a "FS", "S" or "N".
  • Special permit areas require a "SP" permit in addition to a paid permit.
  • Visitors may only park in areas that have a "P" or "S" symbol and must purchase a permit ahead of time through our Aztec Parking Portal, or the day of by PayByPhone or from a pay machine (see below for options).

Permits are non-transferrable and may not be shared, altered or counterfeited. Parking in violation of the parking regulations will result in a citation.

Student Parking (S Permit/Day Only) - 1 (L3-­­L5), 2B, 2C, 15, 16 and 17C

Overnight parking is not permitted in these lots. Student permits are required all other times from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.  Student parking is permitted after 6:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. in F/S spaces excluding spaces marked “SP.” In addition, students may park after 3:30 p.m. in faculty/staff spaces in P2A.

Student & Overnight Parking (N Permit/24 Hour) - 3 (L1-L5), 4, 7, 12 (L3-L8) 17, 17A and 17B

Overnight parking from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. is permitted in these lots. Any student lot not listed above is “No Parking” between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Vehicles without an N or overnight parking permit must purchase a visitor overnight permit from a pay permit machine to park between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Faculty / Staff Parking - 1 (L1-­­L2 and L6), 2, 2A, 3 (L6), 6, 7 (L2), 12 (L1-L2), 14, 15

F/S permits are required at all times. Faculty and staff may park in student lots.

Visitor Parking on Campus

Visitors are required to pay for parking when visiting SDSU.  There are differing ways to assist you depending on your preference.

Aztec Parking Portal

If you would like to purchase a permit prior to driving to SDSU you may do so through our Aztec Parking Portal.  This is done by creating a guest user account and then purchasing the permit for the date and time you will be coming to campus.

PayByPhone

PayByPhone phone app is available at SDSU for parking.  PayByPhone parking is allowed in all student parking ( see student parking locations listed above).  If you prefer not to use the phone app you may call PayByPhone directly.  For more information visit our PayByPhone webpage.

Pay Permit Machine Parking - Parking Information Booth, 3 Lev1, 7 Lev2 and 12 Lev8

Pay machine permits are valid in student spaces. You will need to know your vehicle license plate prior to purchasing the permit at the pay station. Please note if using cash you must use the exact amount as the machines do not give change.

A visitor's vehicle displaying a disabled placard, disabled plate, or a temporary H/C placard issued by DMV is required to pay for parking.

For guests staying overnight, pay machines provide the option of overnight and weekend permits. The overnight permit when purchased is valid until 10:00pm the next day.  The weekend permit is valid until Sunday night at 10:00pm.

 

Disabled Spaces are located in Parking - 1, 3, 4A, 6, 7, 8, 9A, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17A and the campus core

Permits are required at all times. A visitor's vehicle displaying a disabled placard, disabled plate, or a temporary H/C placard issued by DMV is required to pay for parking. Students and F/S are required to display a current SDSU permit with their DMV placard or DP plate. If ADA parking is full in the core you may only park in Service/Vendor or SP 900 spaces.  You may not park in any other SP space.  If there is an event and we are collecting money payment is required.

Motorcycle Parking -­­  1, 2, 2B, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9A, 12, 14, 16 and 17A

Motorcycles must park in motorcycle stalls only. They will be cited if parked in vehicle stall. Permits are required at all times. If you purchased a vehicle permit, you are entitled to a free motorcycle permit. Bring in both vehicle and motorcycle registrations to Parking Services, showing that you are the registered owner.

Business Permits &  Service/Vendor (S/V) Zones

Permits are required at all times. Short-­­ or Long-­­term business permits are only valid for one hour in S/V, then valid for the remainder of the same day in Student & F/S.  Service / Vendor permits are only valid in designated S/V for the time stated on permit.

Special Permit (SP) Areas

Parking spaces painted white with a designated SP number. Permits are required at all times and must be displayed with a current paid SDSU permit.

Non-­­ Designated Areas

Any area not designated by a marked stall is considered un-­­designated and will result in a citation; a “No Parking” sign does not have to be present.

Red Curb and Fire Lane/Hydrant and

No parking at any time.
